How to get to the conference

Through Trapani International Airport

The airport of Trapani is an international airport served mainly by low-cost companies such as Ryanair, Albastar, BlueAir. You might find some interesting options, especially during the high season.

From the airport, you can reach Trapani city centre by taxi (the cost is approximately 30 euros), by car (you should consider renting a car if you would like to visit Trapani’s surroundings), or by bus.

The buses of AST leave for Trapani city centre approximately every hour, from 5.50 am to 10 pm. You can buy the tickets (between 2 and 4 euros) in four different ways:

• On the website astbus.it (unfortunately it is only in Italian!)
• Through your smartphone, downloading the app AST Biglietteria
• Directly on the bus from the driver, paying cash or via credit card
• At the stands located inside the airport.

Through Palermo International Airport

The Airport of Palermo is served by many traditional and low-cost companies.

Once arrived at Palermo Airport, you can reach Trapani city centre in different ways.

The cheapest option (9.60 euros) is taking the "Segesta bus" located outside the terminal. It takes about 50 minutes to reach Trapani. The tickets can be bought inside the airport at the Segesta stands located just before the exit or online at www.segesta.it. There are buses for Trapani from 10 am until 9 pm. So you should consult the timetable before making any plans.

Transport from Trapani or Palermo Airport to Trapani City:

In case the buses to and from the airport are not available, or if you prefer to use a transfer, we have negotiated the following rates with local transfer services:

• From Trapani Airport to Trapani City: €35 for up to 4 people, and then €10 per person for each additional person.
• From Palermo Airport to Trapani City: €120 for up to 4 people, additional rates to be agreed upon.

Shuttle Service from and to the Conference Venue

The city of Trapani, which has sponsored the event, has kindly provided a shuttle service for delegates to travel from the city center to the conference venue. A bus, similar to those used for urban transport service and with a capacity for up to 80 people, will operate two trips for each segment. The bus will display the sign ECCOMAS.

Morning: Buses will depart in the morning from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (point A on the map) to the conference venue (point B) and from the conference venue to the roundabout near the Hotel La Baia dei Mulini (point C). From point C, the return trip will take delegates back to the conference venue (point B). This allows delegates to take the shuttle from point A to reach point B or from point C to stop at point B. The bus schedule is as follows:

• On September 12, 2023, departure from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele at 7:50 and 8:20.
• On September 13-14, 2023, departure from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele at 8:00 and 8:30.
  

Lunch: Lunches will be held at the Sun Club beach resort, located less than 400 meters from the conference venue along the coast. Delegates can certainly walk and enjoy this beautiful stroll. However, a bus will be available for those who prefer not to walk. It will depart from the Conference Venue at 13:10. At the end of lunch,only on days 12 and 13, the same bus will depart from Sun Club at 14:20, in time for the afternoon session starting at 14:30.

Evening: After the conference sessions end at 18:30, delegates will have the option to take the bus from the conference venue to Baia dei Mulini and the center of Trapani. Delegates can take the bus at point B and get off at point C or point A. The buses will depart from the University Campus at 18:40 and 19:00, only on days 12 and 13.

Last Day of the Conference: On the 14th, there will be no afternoon sessions, and the farewell lunch will run slightly longer for farewells. After lunch, two bus trips are scheduled. One at 15:00 from Sun Club (point D) to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (point A), and another at 15:30 from Sun Club (point D) to the Erice cable car station. The latter is to allow those who wish to use the cable car to visit Erice independently before the start of the guided tour we are organizing.

Independent Travel: Delegates who wish to do so can certainly use their own means of transportation. The spacious University parking lot is accessible to delegates (please note, there are two entrances, one is reserved for University staff and not accessible) or you can take a taxi (you can call Trapani Taxi at +39 09231986251 or +39 3687340893).
